Pre-surgery diet

As far as diets go, my main belief is that the less processing it has the better. The closer it comes to how it was produced, the better. Try not to eat anything that has ingredients that are hard to pronounce, food colors, preservatives, or the dreaded “natural flavorings”.

There are a couple of things that I have done so far that have made me feel better already.

I have weaned myself off of coffee which to be truly honest with you, is my drug of choice. I love it. I love the smell of it. I love the ritual of getting up and making the coffee and sitting there and enjoying it. I have given up coffee many times in my life so I have the procedure down. For me it is to switch from coffee to black tea. I usually will drink two cups of black tea for each cup of coffee I was drinking. Then cut down on the black tea until I am down to one cup per day. After that, I can switch over to green tea. I don’t really like green tea much so then I switch over to some herbal tea, usually peppermint.

The results of eliminating coffee in my life are: less frustration; less anxiety; more calm; less interrupted sleep; deeper sleep; more dreams; easier wake ups in the morning: and a whole lot less of a feeling of being rushed.

Colorful Plant Foods

I like to think of foods having colors and that a variety of colors is better than just a few colors. I have been trying to add in more oranges, yellows, and reds, to the standard greens.
