Structural Awareness
DESIGNS FOR LIVING, MOVING AND BEING
THE NOLTE SYSTEM OF MOVEMENT EDUCATION*
"Every body has a true and natural grace, poised and waiting to emerge."
Structural Awareness assumes you are constantly creating your body and invites you to join consciously in your own creation. Using movement patterns to facilitate awareness and communion with the wisdom of your mindbody, you will discover the nexus of your relationship to the earth and sky.
Structural Awareness invites you to conceive of your posture and body alignment as a dynamic and vital expression of your whole person which is in continuous communication with your environment; rather than as a static placement of body parts in space, generally described as "stand up straight."
Structural Awareness emphasizes and trains the kinesthetic sense, honors the inner knowing of the body, as well as bringing focus to self growth and change; creates and understanding of the body's relationship to the gravitational field. Introduces you to your personal gravity line and energy space. Structural Awareness recognizes the synergy of mind-body-spirit and acknowledges its transformational powers in the human energy field.
Structural Awareness movement patterns are learned easily and done quietly. They are an ideal balance and compliment to any regular exercise program. They establish a sense of oneness with your self, your body and your life. Thirty-five years of teaching experience with Structural Awareness demonstrate change in posture and body balance toward optimum.
Structural Awareness creates a strong feeling attitude of hereness and nowness, the essence of its practical work. Utilizes breathing and imaging to move through the body and listen to its message. Includes group discussion and quiet reflective experience, while deepening your awareness of inter-connectedness of all life.
Structural Awareness is taught on both the East and West coasts, and has been taught in "Y's" both public and private schools, universities, hospitals, churches, and growth centers, including the Esalen Institute. Students report increased ease of movement in their everyday activities, as well as a welcome enhancement of their overall body/self image, a lighter way of being.
Please dress for floor sitting. Bring a towel. Wear soft exercise clothing.
