Body-Oriented Past Life Therapy
My interest in doing past life work has originated out of the Structural Integration work that I have been practicing since 1992. Structural Integration is a bodywork therapy that organizes the structure of the body with the gravitational field of the earth releasing old restrictions and traumas, and creating a more fluid, efficient way of being. Often clients report memories, images, or emotions during a session. These can be subtle or profound, specific to an particular incident, or not tied to any memorable experience.
One of my first unequivocal past life experiences happened during a workshop in California. While I was working with on the neck of a woman, I had an odd aching feeling in my hands. This peculiar aching happened before and I wasn't sure of what to make of it. I had assumed that it might be caused by faulty body mechanics. But this time as I worked, I felt a peculiar pattern of stress in the tissue of her neck in conjunction with the aching feeling in my hands. The pattern was one of damage that might have occurred from a hanging. I could feel the path of the rope around her neck. The knot of the noose was tied on the left side of her head and that her head was snapped laterally to the right as the rope jerked stretching the tissue on the left side while compressing the tissue on the right. When I suggested this to her she responded that she had indeed experienced being hung in a past life and was in process of clearing that memory with a psychic.
After that experience, when I began to feel that aching feeling in my hands, I would ask the clients if they were having any images. Often they began to tell me of images or memories of past trauma, both of present and past lives. Stories of stabbings, spearings, dying while giving birth, and having to carry on after deaths of loved ones dying in their arms. All triggered by attention to the body. Sometimes I paid attention and talked with them about it and sometimes I had no clue as what to do besides acknowledge it. I discovered that often when they expressed the image of the past life and recognized that it was from a past time and place, the body often spontaneously softened and rearranged as though the past patterned was released. So I decided to learn something about it.
So I went down to the local bookstore and bought a copy of "Other Lives, Others Selves: A Jungian Psychotherapist Discovers Past Lives" by Roger Woolger. This is a very thorough book on the methodology of working with past lives. I found it interesting how Dr. Woolger himself received his first glimpses of past lives during a Rolfing® Structural Integration session. I have since had the honor of attending several workshops with Dr. Woolger and have witnessed and practiced his techniques under his supervision. His method is very quick, direct and works with resolving and letting go of the beliefs, emotions, and body pains that are the unfinished business of past lives.
I use a combination systems including the knowledge accumulated through years of bodywork and gestalt training to help people explore memories and unfinished business of past lives. I have also produced the recording "Welcome to Earth: Explorations in Body Awareness & Relaxation" to allow people to teach themselves the basic awareness' necessary for opening up their consciousness to the present here and now of the body. It is this focus on the present which allows the past to be brought forward. This recording is the first step in that direction.
I urge you to explore your inner self on this amazing journey we call life. |
